Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is an international independent organization that helps businesses, governments and other organizations understand and communicate the impact of business on critical sustainability issues such as climate change, human rights, corruption and many others.
The Stakeholder Council (SC) is the formal stakeholder policy forum within the GRI governance structure, and advises the Board on strategic issues. The SC’s key governance functions include appointing Board members and making recommendations on future policy, business planning and activity.
Up to 50 members sit on the Stakeholder Council. Its membership is diverse, and drawn from all United Nations-defined regions: Africa, Asia Pacific/Oceania, Latin America/Caribbean, North America/Europe/CIS and West Asia. Its members represent core constituencies in GRI’s network: Business, Civil Society Organization, Investment Institution, Labor and Mediating Institution.
In this new era of sustainability and the post-2015 Development Agenda, there is increasing momentum for change. Businesses are taking action towards a more sustainable world, but a transformational effort is required by all actors to unlock the real value of sustainability data and live up to the ambitious agreements made at COP21.
Working separately and on isolated efforts is not an option; by working together, we can build on our common goal – a more sustainable, secure, and stable economy and world.
The GRI GOLD Community, which is the evolution of the Organizational Stakeholder (OS) program, offers organizations around the world a unique opportunity to join a collaborative, global multi-stakeholder network to do exactly this.
WORLDCOB has joined the program GOLD Community, we are GRI’s core supporters at the heart of the community shaping the future of sustainability and reporting, and empowering decision making towards a more sustainable economy and world.
We have been working for years with GRI in its world summits and We are pleased to inform our members that as a result of this commitment we are presenting our CSR Director´s candidacy for the Council of stakeholders in the 2016 election, with the intention to deepen our collaboration and also representing the interests of the members of our organization.
The GRI GOLD Community includes diverse companies and organizations across business, consultancies, civil society, academia, labor, public and intergovernmental agencies. We hope the success of this application, will allow us to advance our goal of a better world through the efforts and support of private enterprise.
